  • The PIN chosen should not be important dates like anniversaries, date of birth, etc., which are very predictable.
  • Spoofing is a way of acquiring sensitive credit card related or bank account information fraudulently by posing to be from a reputed business organisation that genuinely needs this information for some really luring offers. Such information can be sought through email messages that seem very genuine. The message will lead to a link where personal information like credit card details, passwords, user ID, PIN etc. Do not fall prey to such electronic messages.
  • Ensure the credit card is swiped in your presence to avoid skimming devices duplicating your credit card details.
  • If you have multiple cards, do not have the same PIN for all the cards.
  • Do not save your credit card details on online shopping websites just to save the ordeal of entering the credit card details every time you shop or pay any bill. Theft of personal identity has become very easy these days, and you should never give scope for that to happen.
  • Only use the credit card on secure websites that begin with the 'https' code and not the 'http' code. S represents the security of the website. Also, you should look for safety icons like a 'lock' on the websites to secure your transactions.
  • Never share your credit card details and PIN through emails or SMS.
