Airport lounge access credit cards remain in huge demand as card members can enjoy complimentary visits to airport lounges in India and abroad. Lounge access is one of the lucrative features of credit cards as it enhances the card ownership experience, effectively comforting the traveler during an airplane journey. 

Most airport lounge access credit cards have an upper limit of 2 complimentary visits to domestic airport lounges per quarter, while access to international airport lounges is provided via a complimentary Priority Pass membership.

Some credit cards provide complimentary visits to airport lounges without any conditions as card members are only required to pay the annual/renewal fee. On the other hand, some credit cards offer complimentary lounge access to card members only if they manage to cross the requisite spending threshold in a quarter. 

RuPay Credit Card Airport Lounge Access 2025

From 1 January 2025 onwards, the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has launched a tiered reward system through which RuPay credit card holders can avail of complimentary lounge access facilities. The quota of complimentary airport lounge visits is subjective to the quarterly spending. 

A user can get 2 complimentary visits to RuPay airport lounges by spending between Rs 10,000 & Rs 50,000. Spenders between Rs 50,000 and Rs 1 lakh get 4 complimentary access to airport lounges. A quarterly spend between Rs 1 lakh and Rs 5 lakh can provide a card member with 8 complimentary visits, while spending exceeding Rs 5 lakh a quarter can get you unlimited complimentary visits to RuPay airport lounges. 

How to check airport lounge access on credit cards

Contact Customer Care

You can dial in the customer care number of the credit card issuing bank to check if your credit card provides the facility of complimentary lounge visits or not. Contacting the customer care number from the bank-registered mobile number can help you eliminate some levels of verification checks. 

You can also confirm the available quota of complimentary visits to airport lounges and ask about the qualifying criteria to get free access to lounges from the customer care representative acting on the bank’s behalf.

Check on the Bank’s Website/Mobile App

You can always visit the bank’s website credit card to check for the available limit of complimentary access to airport lounges. Some banks provide card-specific lists of airport lounges that can be accessed for free through a particular credit card. Banks are increasingly making the lounge access list available on websites for the ease of customers as it can be very helpful for card members who are flying soon. 

You can also check the bank’s mobile app or a dedicated app for credit cards wherein you may find the list of airport lounges that you can visit for free with the credit card in your possession.

Airport Lounge Access Credit Cards: 5 Key things to note

  1. You should always check for any additional fee levied by the operators for accessing the airport lounges. A minimal fee of Rs 2 is levied for Mastercard holders, whereas Visa cardholders must pay an upfront fee of Rs 25. This is a one-time authorisation fee, exclusive of applicable taxes. 
  2. If a credit card holder visits an airport lounge beyond the number of available complimentary quota, the lounge access fee will be billed in entirety with the upcoming credit card bill. 
  3. Users who are visiting airport lounges with an add-on card should cross-verify the lounge access rules on the particular credit card, whether it provides a complimentary visit to add-on card holders or not. 
  4. While availing complimentary access to international airport lounges in India and abroad, credit card users are generally required to activate the complimentary Priority Pass membership before taking the trip. 
  5. As an aware credit card member, you should make sure that the credit card in your possession provides a free-of-cost membership of Priority Pass, otherwise, a hefty amount will be billed for accessing a pay-only airport lounge as it will also include a dynamic currency conversion charge of up to 3.5% + applicable taxes.
